MOSCOW, Idaho ? The University of Idaho women's tennis team announced the addition of Maria Perevoschikova for the 2008-09 season. Perevoschikova will attend Idaho in the fall after transferring from Kansas State University.
Perevoschikova competed in her freshman year at the top-50 ranked Kansas State. The Russian went 18-12 in singles while playing and in the first, second and third position.
“Maria is a great addition to the women's team,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “She has experience playing at the top of the lineup for a nationally ranked program.”
Before attending Kansas State, Perevoschikova was the No. 315 ranked junior singles player and No. 289 in doubles while playing on the international circuit.
For Beaman, Perevoschikova's contributions will extend beyond the courts.
“Maria is also a strong students and will add experience to our very young and talented team,” Beaman said.
