Volleyball to hold "Dig for the Cure" fundraiser

The University of Idaho volleyball team will hold a fundraiser for breast cancer research as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Vandals have planned an event called "Dig for the Cure", which will take place at the Idaho vs. Boise State volleyball match Oct. 25. The key word "dig" will be the catch for raising money. The team is looking to gain pledges from individuals and businesses that support Idaho Athletics and Vandal Volleyball. A pledge of a discussed amount will be given for every dig earned by the Vandals during the match. Flat donations from boosters, family, friends, etc., also will be accepted.

The Vandals currently rank No. 93 in the nation and No. 1 in the Western Athletic Conference at 14.95 digs per set and have average 57.6 digs per match.

Pink "Dig for the Cure" T-shirts will be sold for $5 on campus, during tailgating for football, and around the community to support the event. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

To make a pledge or donation, download the Donation/Pledge Sheet above, contact Idaho volleyball coach Debbie Buchanan (debbieb@uidaho.edu, 208-885-0238) or look for sign up sheets around the community and with team members.
