MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals soccer program earned unprecedented success during the 2015 season, winning the Big Sky Conference regular season championship with an unbeaten 9-0-1 record and earning the right to host the Big Sky Championships. Despite rising to the top of the league, these Vandals know that there is still a lot of work left to do. Here is part three of our Identity Series, “Whatever it Takes”.
The Vandals set numerous school and conference records during the 2015 season, including tying the school record for most wins in a season. Freshman goalkeeper Amanda Poertner set the program record for shutouts with nine, while Clara Gomez set the school and Big Sky record for assists in a season with 13. The Vandals recorded more goals, assists, points and shutouts in program history.
After seeing such success in 2015, Idaho will surely have a target on its back heading into next year, but these Vandals are ready to put in the necessary work to continue improving and make a run at another Big Sky championship.
