MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho hosts Portland State in a pivotal Big Sky matchup on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Cowan Spectrum. Idaho sits just one half game out of the fourth seed in the Big Sky, while Portland State is just one half game behind the Vandals.

MATCHUP – Idaho (12-9, 4-4 BSC) is 11-11 all-time against Portland State (7-11, 3-4 BSC). Last season, the two teams split the season series, with the home team winning each game. Idaho currently sits in a four-way tie for fifth in the Big Sky at 4-4. Portland State is just behind the pack at 3-4.
LAST TIME OUT – The Vandals fell to the Hornets, 65-63. Sacramento State got out to a big lead early, but Idaho fought back in the second half, eventually having a chance at a lead in the final minute. Chad Sherwood was tremendous in the second half, scoring 19 of his career-high 22. He hit six 3's on the night, with three coming in the closing minutes.
INJURY BUG – Idaho lost leading scorer Victor Sanders for the next 3-7 weeks while he recovers from a broken hand. The Vandals may also be without second leading scorer Perrion Callandret as he continues to fight back from a sprained foot. Callandret has been listed as day-to-day.
NOT AGAIN – The Vandals had a chance to tie the game from the free throw line inside the final second of play against Sacramento State, but Pat Ingram's first free throw rimmed out. Idaho was in a similar position in its last home game, with Chad Sherwood at the line for three attempts against Southern Utah.
BIG SKY PLAY – Idaho is 4-4 so far in the Big Sky, with its first three games taking place on the road. Only one other Big Sky team opened play with three straight on the road, with Sacramento State going 0-3. Idaho went 2-1 during the road stretch.
