FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The road-tested Vandals take on the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona on Saturday at 1 p.m. (Pacific).  Idaho is looking to win its third straight in Big Sky play, something it has not done since rejoining the conference last season.

MATCHUP – Idaho (14-9, 6-4 BSC) is 37-19 all-time against Northern Arizona (3-18, 1-9 BSC), including an 83-76 win just three weeks ago.  Victor Sanders was tremendous that night, going 9-of-13 from the field and finishing with a career-high 33 points.  The Vandals built a huge lead in the first half, but let up in the second, allowing the Lumberjacks back in things late.

LAST TIME OUT – The Vandals took care of business at Southern Utah on Thursday.  Idaho got out to an early lead, but SUU fought back to tie it late in the first half.  Chad Sherwood then cashed back-to-back 3-pointers over a 20-second stretch to give the Vandals the lead and all the momentum heading into the break.  Idaho would keep that momentum going in the second half and cruise to the 24 point win, 68-44.

The 44 points allowed were the fewest against a Division I opponent since beating CSU-Bakersfield, 72-44, on December 17, 2011.

THE SHERWOODS – Idaho has struggled from beyond the arc over the last three games, going 13-of-40 (32.5%).  Chad Sherwood has been the lone bright spot, as he went 12-of-27 (44.4%) over that same stretch.  His brother, Nate Sherwood, is the only other Vandal to hit a 3-pointer during the last three games, doing so at Southern Utah on Thursday.

INJURY BUG – Idaho lost leading scorer Sanders for the next 3-7 weeks while he recovers from a broken hand.  The Vandals may also be without second leading scorer Perrion Callandret as he continues to fight back from a sprained foot.  Callandret has been listed as day-to-day.

BIG SKY PLAY – Idaho is 5-4 so far in the Big Sky, with its first three games taking place on the road.  Only one other Big Sky team opened play with three straight on the road, with Sacramento State going 0-3.  Idaho went 2-1 during the road stretch.
