Cougar Indoor Concludes

Pullman, Wash. – The Cougar Indoor concluded this evening, as the Vandals whittle down to one more meet before the 2016 Big Sky Indoor Championships.

“I thought we competed great today, there were quite a few PR's (personal records) today and that is always what you're trying to do, director of track and field Tim Cawley said. I thought we came out fresh, our team was crisp over the two days and I really feel our team is clicking at the right time.”

The Vandals had an excellent meet this weekend as the team had 15 total PR's, as well as many season bests.

Senior Ben Ayesu-Attah set a personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.99, taking second place overall. Fellow Vandals Jesse Villines, Zion Stuffle and Ian Middleton all set personal records in the 60m Hurdles as Villines took fourth overall and Stuffle to sixth.

The men's distance was well represented as Drew Schultz and Skylar Ovnicek set personal records, Schultz taking seventh overall at a time of 4:22.58, and Ovnicek finishing at a respectable 4:29.88, in thirteenth. Idaho's Dwain Stucker set a personal record in the 3000m run with a time of 8:54.51, finishing fourth overall.

Throwers Juan Medina and Mitchell Quinn both set personal records in the Shot Put as Medina put up a mark of 15.30m, taking fourth overall and Quinn finishing eighth at a mark of 13.74m.

On the women's side, sticking with the Shot Put, Kolcie Bates set a personal record with a mark of 11.77m, finishing third overall.

The women's distance was also well represented as two personal records were set in the mile, as Idaho's McCall Skay and Kara Story finished 13th and 14th with times of 5:21.95 and 5:23.46, respectively.

In the women's 200m, Idaho took the top two spots as Meghan Palesch finished first, setting a personal record with a time of 26.18 while Andrea Pikes took second at a time of 26.27.

In the Women's Pole Vault Idaho's Cecilia Watkins cleared a height of 3.40m, taking seventh overall.

The Idaho track and field program return to action this weekend as they head back to Seattle to compete in the Husky Classic at the Unversity of Washington.
