FRESNO, Calif. - Rain pummeled the course and the flu pummeled the Vandals as the Lexus Golf Classic was reduced to 36 holes by weather and Idaho wound up with just three healthy players during Monday's first day.
The three who are playing, are play well. Freshman Sophie Hausmann is tied for sixth and fellow freshman Michelle Kim is tied for ninth. Senior Cassie McKinley is tied for 12th.
"We are very impressed with how well Sophie has rebounded from her injury," coach Lisa Johnson said after Hausmann's even-par 72.
Johnson was pleased with the poise of the three - Kim had a one-over 73 and McKinley a two-ver 74.
"Our group of three players handled the unusual circumstances," Johnson said. "This course played rather long for Michelle and Sophie because of the weather but they both managed it very well."
