Vandals Edge Bobcats

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Vandals picked up yet another Big Sky win on Saturday, taking down the Bobcats of Montana State, 4-3.  Idaho (9-2, 4-1 BSC) dropped the doubles points to Montana State (1-8, 1-3 BSC) but rallied to win 4-of-6 singles matches.

The Vandals got out to a slow start, dropping the doubles point to get things started.  Felipe Fonseca and Odon Barta were victorious, however, in second doubles, taking the match 6-3.

Fonseca and Barta each picked up a point in singles, taking down second and first, respectively.  Fonseca was in control against Alexander Flink, winning 6-3, 6-3, while Barta was challenged by Kellen Bates before taking the match 6-4, 7-5.

Lucas Coutinho was victorious in sixth singles.  He won the first set, 7-5, then dominated the second, 6-0.  Mark Kovacs earned the deciding point for the Vandals, winning a tight match at fifth singles, 7-6 (2), 7-5.
