MISSOULA, Mont. – Idaho got the weekend sweep in Montana, taking down Montana, 4-3, on Sunday. The Vandals move to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the Big Sky Conference, while Montana falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the BSC.
Idaho took the doubles point, 2-1. Odon Barta and Felipe Fonseca took down second doubles, 6-3, while Lucas Coutinho and Mark Kovacs were victorious in third doubles, also 6-3.
Fonseca took care of business in second singles, defeating Semion Branzburg, 6-2, 6-2, to open things up. Jackson Varney ran into some tough competition at third singles, but handled Alex Canellopoulos, 6-3, 6-4.
Kovacs brought home the win for the Vandals, taking down Tomasz Soltyka in fifth singles. Kovacs won the first set, 6-2, before falling in the second, 7-5. He rallied back, taking the match with a 6-3 third set win.
Next up, the Vandals head to Sanoma State on March 16.
