Vandals tied for sixth

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Three University of Idaho players are in the top 25 after the first two rounds of the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Tournament at the Finkbine Golf Course.

Still, the Vandals are tied for sixth with a 588 with 18 holes to play.

"We had three guys play really solid golf today," coach David Nuhn said. "We just need to find that fourth score for a solid finish amongst some the nation's top teams."

Low for Idaho are Ian Kim and Daniel Sutton, who are tied for 12th at 145. Ryan Porch is tied for 18th at 146 with Enrique Marin and Jake Scarrow tied for 54th at 152.

"The tough conditions today proved a good test today," Nuhn said. "They needed to maintain focus all day out there because any mistep meant a very difficult par save."

Kansas is the first-day leader at 573 with Iowa State and Kansas State at 577.

The tournament concludes Sunday.
