UI Adds International Talent

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track & Field program couldn't be more excited to welcome Silke Berendse, a phenomenal student-athlete from the Netherlands, into the program.

She boasts personal bests of 7.70 in the 60m, 12.15 in the 100m, 24.64 in the 200m, 58.51 in the 400m, and 37' 1 1/4” in the triple jump. This indoor season she ran an indoor personal best of 24.67 in the 200m, showing signs of big outdoor marks to come in 2016.

Berendse will make an immediate impact for the Vandals in the Big Sky Conference. Her personal best in the 60m would have ranked sixth in the Big Sky for the 2016 season. Her personal bests in the 100m and 200m would both be currently ranked in the top ten in the conference at this time. Her mark in the triple jump would currently be ranked 11th.

“We are truly excited to have Silke join the Vandal family. She is a very powerful sprinter who can help the team in her open events as well as be a dynamic leg on the relays. I was really impressed by Silke through our conversations, and think she will really fit in well with the team.” -Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
