Vandal women sign two

The University of Idaho Women's Golf Team announced the addition of Hannah Gropp and Danika Palm on Monday, April 25.

“Both Hannah and Danika have Idaho ties in their families so we are thrilled they've chosen Idaho,” coach Lisa Johnson said.  “They will both be great Vandals on the course and in the classroom.”

Palm of Richland, Wash., has been a consistent top player in her home state over the past year. She has had top 15 finishes at the 2015 WIAA State golf tournament, which took place at Indian Canyon. Also in 2015 she represented Team Washington at the Girls Junior America's Cup.

“Danika is a strong and talented athlete and we are excited as we believe her golf game is a great fit for our program here at Idaho,” Johnson said. “She hits the ball far and has shown tremendous improvement in her scores over the course of this past year.”

Gropp hails from Spokane, Wash., and attends University High School. She was sidelined by an injury last year but has been a staple in the program over the course of her career. In addition, she has been an all-league performer as well as a team captain.

“Hannah will be a wonderful addition to our team. It's always a great thing for any program when you can recruit and get local talent,” said Johnson. “Hannah is deeply committed to taking her game to the next levels and has always loved the Vandals.”

Both Gropp and Palm will enroll in August 2016 as freshman.
