Take the Family to Vandalville: Family Friendly Tailgate, Discounted Football Tickets For Palouse Community Over Thanksgiving Holiday

MOSCOW, Idaho - Take the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend, add a dash of community spirit, food and fun, and top it off with a football game. It's the recipe for a family-oriented day at the University of Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 28.

The event begins with an indoor community tailgate event, continues with football when the Vandals take on Utah State University and culminates with a men's basketball game against Eastern Washington University.

"We're creating a fun community called 'Vandalville' that is a family friendly event to mark the last of the home football games for our Vandal season," said Steve Johnson, director of the university's alumni relations office. "We invite all alumni and Palouse-area residents - and those who have family visiting for the long holiday weekend - to join us for an indoor tailgate and then take in the game at a discounted price."

President Duane and Ruthie Nellis will join the festivities at the indoor "tailgate" and then attend the game to on cheer the Vandals as they meet the Aggies at the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center; kickoff is at 2 p.m. Vandalville runs 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Idaho Commons Food Court, 875 Line St. The basketball game starts at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gym.

The University of Idaho Bookstore in the Commons will be open during Vandalville, with Vandal gear and game day pieces such as "thundersticks" available for purchase.

Admission to the tailgate is free; no-host food and beverages will be featured, along with activities for kids. Tickets for the football game will be discounted 50 percent for general admission seating in the student section  - $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 years and younger.

In addition, the Vandal men's basketball team takes on Eastern Washington University in Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. Basketball tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Tickets are available through the University Ticket Office by phone: (208) 885-6466; online at www.uitickets.com, or in person at the ticket office at the Kibbie Dome. The ticket office is open Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m-5 p.m. It will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, Thanksgiving day.
