Scouts from 10 professional football organizations spent the afternoon at the Kibbie Dome Thursday putting the 2009 seniors - and a couple others, through a series of drills to test their suitability for the next level. Highly-touted offensive guard Mike Iupati was among the players going the afternoon session as were former defensive end Ben Alexander and Sebastien Taulbee, who played basketball for the Vandals in 2007-08. In addition to being weighed and measured (height, hand span and arm length), the players were tested in:
- vertical jump (the had to find an alternate measuring system for Taulbee because of his height (6-10);
- standing long jump;
- three drills to test agility and change of direction,
- the 40-yard dash, which had watches every 10 yards to test them at 10, 20 and 30 as well;
- their maximum bench presss at 225 pounds,
- and position workouts.
Seattle, Cleveland, Green Bay, Arizona, Philadephia, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, San Diego and the B.C. Lions were represented. All of the information is forwarded to all 32 NFL teams.
