FLORENCE, Ariz. - University of Idaho sophomore Kayla Mortellaro continues to lead the Northern Lights Migration and her efforts combined with those of her teammates have the Vandals within striking distance with one round to play.
"The team played very well again today," coach Lisa Johnson said. "We stayed near the top of the leaderboard, which is where we ant to be. It's been great because we've had contributions from every member of the golf team this week."
Mortellaro added a second-round 70 to her opening 68 for a total 138 and a five-stroke lead of a second-place tie. As for the Vandals, they trimmed three strokes from their opening round score and, with Tuesday's 296, are at 595 for the tournament and just one stroke back of leader Texas-San Antonio.
Frida Nilsson is tied for 22nd for the Vandals at 152, while Amanda Jacobs is two strokes back at 154 and tied for 33rd. Another stroke back and in a tie for 55th is Teo Poplawski, while Annika Karlsson is tied for 47th at 156.
The tournament concludes Wednesday.
