Barrie joined the University of Idaho staff as the Head Athletic Trainer in 1986. Barrie graduated from Washington State University, where he worked prior to joining the Vandals, in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the Athletic Training Room, Barrie oversees the Strength and Conditioning staff and the Equipment Room staff. Barrie has served the Athletic Training profession in many capacities, including on the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Directors, NATA BOD liaison to JRC-AT/CAATE, president of the Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association, and liaison to the Idaho Board of Medicine; State Board of Athletic Trainers. He was honored by the NATA in 2010 as a "Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer." In 2011 Barrie was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame by his peers for his tireless dedication to the profession of Athletic Training
He and his wife, Sue, reside in Moscow and have two children - Barbara and Ross. Barrie is a native of Pasco, Wash.
