THE SERIES
In what is the oldest continuous rivalry in the West, Washington State holds a 157-106 edge in the series. The Cougars and Vandals have played every season since 1906. WSU has won the last six games of the series, including a 51-44 win at the Cowan Spectrum last season. Idaho hasn't won a game at Washington State since a 56-52 victory on Dec. 14, 1989.
THE COUGARS
Washington State (6-2) is one of the nation's top-shooting teams. The Cougars rank 18th in the NCAA in field goal percentage (.502) and 15th in 3-point field goal percentage (.432). WSU also ranks 30th in the nation with an 80.8 scoring average. The Cougars out-rebound opponents by a 35.8-30.3 margin. They force an average of 16.3 turnovers and grab 8.3 steals per game, but they haven't yet had a player foul out of a game.
Sophomore guard Klay Thompson is the engine that runs the WSU offense. He ranks second the NCAA in scoring at 25.9 points per game, while shooting .496 from the floor and .489 from 3-point range. He also ranks second on the team with 5.1 rebounds per game. DeAngelo Casto leads the team in rebounding at 6.3 per game and averages 11.4 points. Reggie Moore is second on the team in points (14.3/gm) and steals (15) and leads the team with 31 assists.
The Cougars enter the game on a two-game losing streak after road losses to a ranked Gonzaga team and a Kansas State team this is receiving top-25 votes.
