JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - University of Idaho sophomore Stefan Richardson had his best collegiate tournament in finishing second at the Oregon Duck Invitational Tuesday. Richardson carded a final round 71 for a 54-hole 211 and a tie for second.

The Vandals climbed from a tie for seventh into fourth after a closing round 364 in the tournament which counts five scores instead of the standard four.

"The guys played great," coach Jon Reehoorn said. "For us to finish fourth is just great. It's a huge step in the right direction."

The Vandals took on some national heavyweights in the tournament and finished behind only No. 3 Oregon, No. 25 Oregon State and No. 33 Arkansas. Host Oregon won with a 1073 with Arkansas second at 1080, Oregon State third at 1088 and the Vandals fourth at 1101.

As for Richardson, Reehoorn was equally proud.

"That is an unbelieveable finish," Reehoorn said. "He's come a long way. I'm really proud of him. He's worked really hard on his game and it's starting to pay off."

Also for the Vandals, sophomore Jarred Bossio tied for 22nd (220), freshman Matt Rawitzer tied for 31st (222), senior David Nuhn tied for 44 (225), freshman Damian Telles tied for 63rd (228) and sophomore Chris Cho tied for 71st (230).
