Britt earns All-Region honor

NEW ORLEANS - University of Idaho sophomore cross country runner Barry Britt was honored on Monday as an All-Region honoree by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Britt (Hampton, B.C., Canada/Georgia State) finished 24th in the men's 10,000m race at the NCAA West Region Championships on Saturday with a time of 30:38.17.

The USTFCCCA honors the top 25 finishers in each of the nine regional championship races with the award. Britt is the second Vandal man to earn the distinction. Jan Eitel took 19th at the 2002 West Region Championships and also earned the honor.

The regional award caps off an impressive first year for Britt, who transferred to Idaho in January from Georgia State. He was honored once as a Western Athletic Conference Men's Athlete of the Week during the season and earned first-team all-WAC honors two weeks ago after finishing sixth at the WAC Cross Country Championships.
