Track & Field

Track stays local this week

This Week's Meet:
Cougar Invitational (Pullman, Wash.)
Saturday, April 23, 2011

Looking Forward:
The Vandals will stay close to home this weekend and compete at the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Washington State on Saturday, April 23. Field events will start at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin and women's hammer, while track events get started with the women's steeplechase at 1:15 p.m.

The Cougar Invitational is another meet with historically good marks for Vandals. Last season, Idaho athletes claimed 10 titles and broke one meet record at the competition.

Sophomore Karlene Hurrel (200m) and junior Lauren Schaffer (400m) are returning 2010 winners on the women's side, while Sam Michener (200m) and Eugenio Mannucci (Shot Put) will also try to defend their 2010 titles.

For junior Morgan Dunning (Pole Vault) and sophomore Sarah Nutsch (Hammer), this meet is also the site where career-bests were achieved last season.

While more rain is expected on and off during the week, Saturday's forecast calls for partly-cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid- to high-50s.
