SPOKANE, Wash. – University of Idaho track and field athletes claimed seven individual titles at the Duane Hartman Invitational at Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday.
Sophomore Jeff Aronson led the way with a sweep of the men's 100m (11.20) and 200m (22.69), while he was joined on the men's side with wins by senior Lucas Pope in the pole vault (16-6.75) and sophomore Colin Briggs in the long jump (22-4.25).
For the women, sophomore Keli Hall ran a career-best 2:13.38 to win the 800m, while freshman Holly Stanton won the 3000m in 10:42.53 and sophomore Ali Middleton hit 34-8.5 to take the triple jump crown.
In the 400m hurdles, freshman Adam Bunch ran a career-best 56.24 in a fifth-place finish in the men's race, while on the women's side, freshman Cait Rowland took third with a career-best 1:06.35.
Sophomore Laurel Draper took second in the women's 800m behind Hall with a career-best 2:14.40, and in the men's triple jump, junior Rendel Jones went 46-0 (14.02m) to take third and set a new career best.In the men's long jump, junior Andrew Blaser hit a career long with a leap of 21-8.75 (6.62m).
In all, Idaho athletes turned in 18 total top-three finishes at the meet. Their last chance to impress will be next weekend in the team's regular-season finale. First, the Vandals will compete at the Oregon Twilight on Friday at Eugene, then they'll head to Seattle for the Ken Shannon Invitational on Saturday.
