|Volleyball hosts LA Tech, NMSU|
MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Idaho volleyball team is set for its final two home matches of the season, as it is slated to take on Louisiana Tech on Oct. 27, and New Mexico State on Oct. 29. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Memorial Gym.
Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan has a chance to become Idaho's all-time wins leader this week, as she is currently tied with former coach Tom Hilbert with 174 career wins at Idaho. The Vandals enter the week at 11-11 on the season and 5-4 in the WAC. Idaho is currently in third place in the conference, behind New Mexico State and Hawai'i in the standings.
Idaho is perfect all-time agianst LA Tech, with a 13-0 record including a 3-0 win in Ruston, La., earlier this year. The Lady Techsters enter the week at 9-16 this season and 0-8 in conference play. The first 300 fans that show up to Memorial Gym for Thursday's match will receive a free 8x11 2011 Idaho volleyball team picture.
The Vandals close out the week with their final home match of the season. Saturday's contest against New Mexico State will be senior night in Memorial Gym, as Idaho seniors Cassie Hamilton, Alicia Milo and Rylee Walker will be honored in a ceremony before the match. That match will also be Idaho's dig for the Cure event. The team is selling pink "Dig for the Cure" T-shirts around town and on campus for 10 dollars. All proceeds from the T-shirt sales will go to the Susan G. Komen fund to end breast cancer. Shirts will be sold at Thursday's match, and at the Idaho football game on Saturday afternoon.
New Mexico State enters the week with an 18-5 overall record, and a 7-1 mark in conference play. The Aggies' only blemish in the WAC came in a five-set loss to No. 8 Hawai'i. NMSU leads the all-time series against Idaho 13-12, and has won 12 of the last 13 matches in the series dating back to 2006.
