Men's golf 14th after one round

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Idaho men's golf team was led by an even-par 72 from Sean McMullen as the Vandals shot a 15-over 297 in the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.

The Vandals are in 14th place in the 24-team field. Second round play at the tournament was suspended due to darkness. The second round will be finished Sunday morning, with the final round of the 54-hole event being played right after.

McMullen's Saturday round was good for a tie for 23rd in the tournament. Justin Kadin tied for 34th with a one-over 73. Jarred Bossio and Stefan Richardson each posted scores of 76 and are tied for 75th place, while Idaho's Gordon Webb shot 78 and is in 94th.

UNLV leads the tournament with a team score of 279, nine shots under par. The Vandals are two shots behind Houston, and just five shots out of a top-10 spot after the first round.
