The University of Idaho men's golf team finished fourth at the Western Athletic Conference Championship Tournament after a closing-round 302 gave the Vandals a tournament total 892 for the 54 holes at Rio Secco Golf Club.

Freshman Sean McMullen earned Freshman of the Year honors after a sizzling 65 to open the tournament led to a 54-hole 216 and a third-place finish. Senior Jarred Bossio earned first-team all-WAC honors after finishing in a tie for fifth with a 220.

With three seniors on the team, however, coach John Means was expecting a better team outcome.

"I was their experience would help carry us to a contending position," Means said. "We had our chances early in today's round but we made too many mistakes. I'm very proud of Jarred and Sean - they stuck to the gameplan even though it was very hard to do."

Senior Justin Kadin tied for 23rd with a 229, while Stefan Richardson, another senior, tied for 26th with a 230. Junior Gordon Webb tied for 33rd with a 236.

San Jose State won the team title with a 12-over 876 with New Mexico State second at 882, Fresno State third at 886 and the Vandals fourth. Louisiana Tech was fifth (902) followed by Nevada (909), Hawai`i (911) and Utah State (919).
