MOSCOW - The Idaho volleyball team will look to snap out of a seven-match skid when it opens Western Athletic Conference play with a pair of home matches against Denver and New Mexico State. The Vandals take on Denver on Thursday at 7 p.m., and New Mexico State on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both matches are in Memorial Gym.

Idaho enters the week with a 2-8 overall record after dropping all seven of its matches away from home over the last two weeks. The last time the Vandals played in Memorial Gym, however, they were celebrating a 3-2 victory over border-rival Washington State.

Idaho begins its eighth WAC season against an opponent it has never faced before. The Pioneers are new to the WAC in 2012 and own a 6-3 overall record heading into Thursday, tied for the best non-conference mark of any WAC team.

While the Vandals have no history against Thursday's opponent, there is plenty of history against Saturday's foe, New Mexico State. The Vandals and Aggies tied for second place in the WAC in 2011 and after splitting the season series, the Aggies swept Idaho 3-0 in the WAC semifinals. That match gave NMSU a slim 14-13 lead over Idaho in the all-time series, which the Vandals will look to even this week. The last time New Mexico State played in Moscow, Idaho won in four sets, including back-to-back 25-14 wins in sets three and four to close out the victory. New Mexico State enters the week with a 6-3 overall record, and will face Seattle U on Thursday before visiting Moscow.

Idaho has a 243-120 (.669) all-time record in Memorial Gym, and with nine home matches remaining in 2012, the Vandals have a chance at reaching their 250th win in the historic gym.
