MOSCOW - The Idaho volleyball team will get its first look at a couple new Western Athletic Conference foes as it hosts Texas State and UTSA Sept. 27 and 29, respectively. Both matches start at 7 p.m. in Memorial Gym.

Texas State and UTSA were both in the Southland Conference a year ago, and had great success in that league. Texas State went 15-1 in conference play and won the SLC regular season and tournament titles. UTSA went 14-2 in the league, and fell to the Bobcats in the SLC championship match. Idaho's match Thursday night against Texas State will be the first against the Bobcats in program history. The Vandals are 1-1 all-time against UTSA, splitting matches in 1996 and 1999.

Texas State enters the week with a 6-8 overall record and a 1-2 mark in WAC play. The Bobcats are coming off a three-set loss to UTSA last week, and have a league-worst .116 hitting percentage in WAC matches.

The Roadrunners are 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the WAC entering the week, and will visit Seattle U on Sept. 27 before visiting Idaho. UTSA junior McKenzie Adams is the reigning WAC Player of the Week and has already won the award twice this season. She leads the conference with 4.91 kills per set for the season and ranks fourth with 3.82 digs per set. UTSA has won three straight matches entering the week.

The Vandals are coming off one of their best performances of the season, a 3-0 sweep at Utah State that gave the Aggies their first loss of the WAC season. Idaho hit a season-high .352 in that match while holding USU to just .096 hitting, the second-lowest for an Idaho opponent this season. Idaho junior Allison (Walker) Baker ranks second in the WAC in kills with 4.39 per set and points with 4.84 per set this season. Her nine double-doubles on the year are the second most of any player in the league. Junior Ashley Christman's .765 hitting percentage (13 kills, 0 errors, 17 attempts) against Utah State last week matches the highest of any player in the WAC this season.
