ARLINGTON, Texas - The Idaho volleyball team gave a complete team effort against UT Arlington Thursday night, and the result was Idaho's fifth consecutive win, a 3-1 Western Athletic Conference victory over the Mavericks.

Idaho won 25-9, 27-25, 22-25, 25-18 to improve to 8-10 on the season and 6-2 in the WAC. Idaho's dominating first-set win was its largest margin of victory in a set this season. UTA falls to 6-14 overall and 2-6 in WAC play.

"We started out strong," Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan said. "Winning the first two sets is huge. The first game we didn't have a single error, which is great. We told them that they were going to come back. They made some adjustments that made their team better and we had to battle."

Idaho had four players with nine or more kills in the match, three with five or more blocks and three with 10 or more digs, including two with 20-plus digs.

Junior Allison (Walker) Baker had 19 kills, 14 digs and five blocks for the Vandals. The double-double was her WAC-leading 13th of the season, and it marked the 34th consecutive match she reached double-digit kills. Sophomore Alyssa Schultz finished with 13 kills and just one error, hitting .462 in the match. She also added five blocks. Senior Alex Sele and freshman Katelyn Peterson added nine kills each, and Sele had a team-high seven blocks. Senior Janelle Chow had a team-high 24 digs, and freshman Jenna Ellis added a career-high 20.

The Vandals hit .250 in the match, and held the Mavericks to a .091 percentage. Idaho improves to 8-3 when hitting .250 or better, and 8-4 when holding its opponent under .200.

"We did come out and play at a high level," Buchanan said. "For us to dominate like that in game one and not have an error, it's great to see we have that in us. We're just trying to be a little more consistent."

Idaho senior Jenny Feicht finished with 36 assists, nine digs and two blocks in the match, while senior Ryann Carter had 13 assists.

Idaho gave up an 85-81 advantage in digs to UTA, but out-blocked the Mavericks 13.0-4.0. Coming off a season-high 12 service aces in its last match at Seattle U, the Vandals managed three on Thursday night, matching three from UTA.

Idaho wraps up its road trip Friday night at Louisiana Tech at 5 p.m. (Pacific). That match was moved from its originally scheduled date of Saturday, Oct. 13.

"This will be a challenge for us," Buchanan said. "They're doing some good things. They haven't been super successful, but we have to get ready to play back-to-back nights and get ready to make that push."

The Vandals will return home to host Utah State on Oct. 18 and San Jose State on Oct. 20. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Memorial Gym.
