SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Idaho volleyball team guaranteed itself a .500 or better conference season for the 10th consecutive year when it got its ninth Western Athletic Conference win of 2012, a 3-0 sweep at Texas State.

The Vandals improve to 11-12 overall and 9-4 in the WAC with the win, their fourth sweep of the season. Texas State falls to 12-12 overall and 7-6 in the WAC.

Idaho senior Alex Sele had eight kills and a season-high eight blocks in the match, while hitting .389. Junior Allison (Walker) Baker had 12 kills, seven digs and three blocks while hitting .220 and junior Ashley Christman had six kills and four digs, hitting .385. Alyssa Schultz had seven blocks for Idaho, adding four kills, five digs and three aces, setter Jenny Feicht had 21 assists, Janelle Chow had 14 digs and Jenna Ellis added nine.

The Vandals out-hit the Bobcats .242 to .088, out-blocked them 15.0-3.0 and had a 4-2 advantage in aces.

"We're playing pretty steady, even if you go back to our match at San Antonio, even though we didn't get that win," Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan said as the Vandals split their first two matches of their current road trip. "Today we had five blocks per set, which is huge and only three errors per set. For seven sets in a row we've kind of kept our stats in line."

Idaho freshman Katelyn Peterson had four kills and four blocks in the match, and senior Julia Church added three kills, two digs and six blocks.

Idaho's 15.0 blocks in the match are the most by the Vandals this season, despite it being just a three-set match.

The Vandals wrap up their three-match road trip at Denver on Oct. 29. Idaho will play three straight home matches against Seattle U (Nov. 3), Louisiana Tech (Nov. 8) and UT Arlington (Nov. 10) before wrapping up the regular season at New Mexico State on Nov. 15. The WAC Tournament is Nov. 19-21 in San Antonio, Texas.

"The kids took care of business today and are ready to head to Denver," Buchanan said. "The one good thing is we played earlier in the day so we have a little extra revering time."
