This Week's Opponents:
#3 Texas State (7-11-1, 4-4-0 WAC)
Texas State, like Idaho, won on the final day of the WAC regular season to clinch its tournament berth. The Bobcats averaged 1.21 goals and 12.6 shots per game this season, while surrendering 1.37 scores and 12.3 attempts per match. Nine different Bobcat players scored a goal this season and seven earned an assist. The team’s seven game-winning goals came from five different players. Texas State has been strong later in games this year, as 17 of its 23 goals were scored after halftime. Goalkeeper Natalie Gardini has a .759 save percentage and a 1.30 GAA.

#2 Denver (14-1-4, 6-0-2 WAC) [Potential Semifinal Opponent]
Denver is unbeaten in its last 18 matches. The Pioneers fell to Colorado College in their opener and haven’t suffered a setback since. Junior forward Kristen Hamilton was the WAC regular-season leaderin goals (13) and points (31) this year, but teammate Kaitlin Bast was close behind with nine goals, seven assists and 25 points. As a team, DU outshoots opponents by a 17.2-9.1 margin and averages 2.26 goals per game while allowing just 0.68 to opponents. DU ended the regular season on a 5-match win streak, during which time the team outscored opponents by a combined 15-3. DU senior keeper Lara Campbell has made 80.9 percent of her save chances.

Team Notes:
Vandals vs. Bobcats
Idaho enters Thursday’s quarterfinal match with a little payback on the mind. The Vandal women held  1-0 lead on Sept. 28 at Texas State, but surrendered two late goals in the 81st and 84th minutes and lost, 2-1. That was the first series meeting between these two teams. In that match, senior Chelsea Small scored Idaho’s lone goal and sophomore Katie Baran assisted it. Idaho held a 25-10 shots advantage in the match.

Vandals vs. Pioneers
Idaho’s potential opponent in the semifinal round is Denver, which took a 5-1 victory over Idaho last weekend at Guy Wicks Field. The Vandals scored first to take a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, but DU answered with a quick pair of scores just 10 minutes later, then added three more in the second half. Denver holds a 2-0 series edge.

School Record Watch
Three Idaho school records are on red alert this weekend. Sophomore Katie Baran (8) needs two more assists to tie and three more to break the team’s single-season record. Senior goalkeeper Liz Boyden needs three saves to break that single-season standard and will break her own single-season record for goalkeeper minutes played if she notches a full 90 on Thursday.

Full Circle
In her first career home start on Sept. 18, 2009, current senior Erica Hart - then a true freshman - scored two goals in a 4-1 Vandal win over Eastern Washington for her first career multi-goal game. Last Sunday on Senior Day - Hart’s final career home start - she notched a pair of goals in Idaho’s 3-1 win over New Mexico State for her second career multi-goal game.

Reeling in WAC Records
Chelsea Small moved into second in WAC history in career shots earlier this season. Last weekend, she became the second player in WAC history to attempt 400 career shots. Her 39 career goals put her at seventh in WAC history. She needs two more points to crack the WAC’s all-time career top-10 in that category. Liz Boyden is tied for sixth all-time in the WAC with 363 career saves.
