A Look at the Phoenix
Green Bay is 2-2 this year after opening the season with wins over Chicago State (72-67) and Southern Utah (66-54), then following with losses at Nevada (71-69) and against Cal State Fullerton (93-82). The Phoenix are shooting 38.8 percent overall and just 20.6 percent from 3-point range, but they’ve out-rebounded opponents by a 44.0-32.8 (+11.3) margin this season, including 16.3 offensive boards per game. Green Bay also averages 9.0 steals and 4.8 blocked shots per game. Opponents are hitting a .417 overall clip and .368 from 3-point range against Green Bay. The team has three different players averaging 12+ points and three who averaged more than seven rebounds per game.

Green Bay Head Coach Brian Wardle
Brian Wardle is in his third season as head coach at Green Bay. He holds a 29-33 record in his first career head coaching position. He led the Phoenix to a 15-15 record and sixth-place tie in the Horizon League last season. Wardle was the youngest head coach in NCAA DI basketball when he was promoted from an assistant position in 2010. He was a five-year Green Bay assistant from 2005-10. He also spent two seasons as Director of Operations at Marquette from 2003-05.

Idaho Vandals
Idaho’s men will try to rebound on Tuesday after seeing a 15-point second-half lead evaporate on Saturday in a 66-63 home loss to Montana. Junior Stephen Madison scored a career-high 22 points and Idaho shot 42.1 percent, but were outrebounded, 34-31, and gave up a 47.9 percent clip to the Griz.

Vandals vs. Phoenix
Green Bay holds a 2-0 series lead, including a tight 63-61 victory last season at Green Bay, Wis. In that game, Idaho senior Kyle Barone had a double-double of 13 points and 12 boards, along with four blocks.  Stephen Madison contributed 13 points and five rebounds for Idaho. The Vandals held a 36-18 edge in the paint, but made a season-low three 3-pointers and GB outscored Idaho 20-7 off turnovers.

A Bunch of Tall Guys
Idaho might not see a front line like Green Bay’s until WAC play. The Phoenix start 7-1, 226-pound junior center Alex Brown and 6-9, 265-pound forward Brennan Cougill and bring 6-8 Nick Arenz and 6-9 Greg Mays off the bench. Idaho kept Brown in check last season, but let Cougill go off for 19 points and 19 rebounds. With 6-10 Kyle Barone, 6-9 Joe Kammerer and 6-8 Marcus Bell and Wendell Faines, Idaho isn’t exactly undersized, either. Post play could end up being the deciding factor on Tuesday.

A Good Day All Around
Senior guard Mike McChristian appears to be tightening his grip on Idaho’s starting point guard spot. On Saturday against Montana, the second-year Vandal tallied career highs of 10 points, five assists, three steals, one block, four made field goals, two made 3-pointers and 35 minutes on the court.
