LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Idaho's Kaitlyn Oster had a first-round 70 to open the three-day Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate in a tie for third as the Vandals opened in a tie for ninth.

"She is comfortable here," coach Lisa Johnson said. "She put on an impressive display of ball striking."

As for the Vandals, Johnson believes there is more as the tournament continues over the next two days.

"We know we can play this course a lot better,' said Johnson after Idaho's first round 304. UC Irvine is the first-day leader at 290.

Also for Idaho, Cassie McKinley is tied for 24th at 75, Kristin Strankman is tied for 53rd at 79, Leilanie Kim is tied for 59th at 80 and Amy Hasenoehrl is tied for 64th at 81.
