|Friday is Senior Night for VB|
MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Idaho volleyball team will be on display in Memorial Gym for the last time in 2013 when it attempts to climb the Western Athletic Conference standings against Seattle U on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
Friday’s match will be Senior Night for Vandal seniors Ashley Christman and Taylor Wilkinson. The two will be honored in a special ceremony at the match.
The Vandals enter the week a half-game behind the Redhawks in the league standings. Idaho is 7-5 in the WAC and 14-10 overall while Seattle U is 11-17 overall but 8-5 in the WAC. Seattle U beat Idaho 3-1 in Seattle earlier this season, but Idaho leads the all-time series 4-3 over the Redhawks.
The Vandals are 5-2 at home in 2013 and had a 13-set home winning streak snapped on Oct. 31.
The Vandals enter the week with the WAC’s best hitting percentage at .240 for the season. That mark is Idaho’s best since the 1996. Junior Alyssa Schultz leads the WAC with a .370 hitting percentage, the second-highest single-season percentage in program history, and her .341 career percentage is on pace to be a program record.
Seattle U is 9-5 since enduring an 11-match losing streak earlier in the season, however the Redhawks have dropped three of their last four matches, including two by 3-0 scores.
Both Idaho and Seattle U have punched their tickets to this month’s WAC tournament, which features the league’s top six teams, but there is still a lot to play for seeding-wise, as only one game separates four teams -- including the Vandals and Redhawks -- from third to sixth in the standings.
Idaho will wrap up its 2013 regular season slate at Chicago State (Nov. 14), Kansas City (Nov. 16) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 21) before the WAC Tournament Nov. 25-27.
