|Vandals Continue Great Season|
The Vandals continued their great season today when they raced against conference foe New Mexico State. The Vandals won the meet by a score of 173-127.
“It was great to get back to what we do well and that's competing,” Coach Mark Sowa said. “The aggies are a really well coached good team and we knew we would have our hands full. I thought these vandals handled that challenge great. It wasn't always pretty but you don't get points for style.”
Junior Rachel Millet continued her dominating season with wins in the 100 back (56.66), 200 back (2:04.11), and 200 IM (2:07.42). Junior Erica Anderson also had a great day in the pool with wins in the 50 free (24.75) and 200 breaststroke (2:24.86).
"It is tough to single people out but Megan Venlos was an absolute stud today and won some really close races,” Sowa said. “The turning point of the meet was the 200 free when Megan, Lindsay, and Kirah went 1-2-3 and turned the momentum. Overall, a good win for the program heading down the final stretch of the season.”
The Vandals will be racing in Moscow next Saturday, Jan. 25, against Oregon State at 11 a.m. at the UI Swim Center.
