SPOKANE, Wash. – The Idaho women’s tennis team got its third consecutive win Sunday with a 6-1 victory at Gonzaga.
Idaho handled the doubles point with 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1 wins and won at Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles for the 6-1 victory.
Alejandra Lozano, Almudena Sanz and Galina Bykova picked up straight-set wins at the top of the singles lineup. Beatriz Flores fell at No. 4 but Belen Barcenilla overcame a first-set loss with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 win at No. 5 and Sophie Vickers won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
“Abid and I were really pleased with the effort today,” assistant coach Art Hoomiratana said. “They competed very well and fought hard for the entire match.”
The Vandals improve to 3-1 on the season with the win. Idaho will play again on Feb. 8 when it visits LCSC in Lewiston, Idaho.
