Looking Forward
University of Idaho track and field host the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship meet this week.  The meet begins on Wednesday, Feb.26 with multi-event and runs through Friday, Feb.28.  The Vandal men finished the conference meet in fifth place last year with 64 points, while the women finished the meet in sixth with 71.5. This is the first time the Indoor WAC Championship meet has been hosted by Idaho.

Historically Speaking
The women’s 4x400m relay team broke a 12-year school record at the meet last year, and return senior Karlene Hurrel. In all, the Vandal finished with 10 First-Team All-WAC honors and 10-Second Team All-WAC honors during the meet.

A Quick Recap
In its final weekend of regular-season indoor competition, Idaho traveled to the WSU Open II.  The Vandals claimed three individual wins over the weekend. Sophomore Halie Raudenbush ran a first-place time in the 3000m (10:22.82), senior Andrew Bloom posted a first-place finish in the 400m (48.62) and freshman Arphaxad Carroll won the long jump with a leap of 22-3.5 (6.79m)

Top in the WAC
Seven Vandals take top seeds into this week’s WAC Indoor Championships.  Junior Ben Ayesu-Attah holds the top spot in the 400m (47.42), junior Matt Sullivan leads the pole vault (16-8.75,5.10m) and junior Emmanuel Panchol sits at number one in the triple jump (48-5.25,14.76m). Also, senior Andrey Levkiv leads the shot put (56-5.75,17.21m), and senior Kyle Rothwell holds the top spot in the weight throw (60-6.5, 18.45m) while the men’s 4x400m relay team lead the WAC with a time of 3:12.84. Sophomore Marquita Palmer holds the lead in the 800m with a time of 2:11.59.
