Idaho golfer Kayla Mortellaro added to her awards cache this week with her selection as a Golfweek honorable mention All-American.
As a sophomore during the 2009-10 season, Mortellaro put together the most successful campaign in school history with this award as well as honorable mention All-American by the National Golf Coaches of America and the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year Award.
"The accolades for Kayla keep pouring in and deservingly so as she had a terrific year," coach Lisa Johnson said. "It's great for her to receive national recognition for her hard work and great play. We are looking forward to her continued development as a player and person next season. She is a terrific young lady, a great teammate and a pleasure to coach."
Mortellaro, who was ranked as high as ninth nationally in 2009-10, was a three-time winner and finished in the top 10 in nine of 11 tournaments. She also tied a school record with a 65 at the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational. She was a two-time WAC Golfer of the Week and last fall was honored as the WAC Golfer of the Month.
