Former University of Idaho women's basketball coach Tara VanDerveer, who gained legendary status for her successes with the U.S. Olympic Team and Stanford University, will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in August. She began her coaching career with the Vandals in 1978-79. In her two seasons at Idaho, she compiled a 42-12 record (at .833 the best winning percentage in school history) and took the Vandals to the AIAW Division II National Tournament. She joins another former Vandal, the late Gus Johnson, in the national hall. Johnson was inducted in 2010.
