Sanz reached the top-50 in the Spanish Women's Open rankings, and was the Northern Spain regional champion in 2010. In 2008, she won her opening round doubles match in the main draw of the 10,000 dollar Oviedo Futures event.

"We are looking for Almudena to make an immediate impact in the upper half of our line-up this year," Beaman said.

Sanz will join the Vandals this fall as a sophomore and will have three years of eligibility remaining. The Vandals lost seven seniors to graduation after the 2010-11 season.
