Four school records fall Friday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Vandal swimmers set four schools records on the third day of the Western Athletic Conference swimming and diving championships on Friday, but as a team Idaho fell to sixth place in the competition, which concludes Friday.

Lyndsay Williams and Rachel Millet each improved on their own school records, as Williams finished the 400 individual medley in 4:23.60, topping her previous school record of 4:25.88 by nearly two seconds. Her effort was good for fifth in the event. Millet took nearly a second off her school record in the 200 freestyle, as she finished sixth with a time of 1:49.69.

Kelsi Saxe finished the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.17 to top JoJo Miller's school record of 1:04.39 and earn a fifth place finish. Idaho's 400 medley relay team of Erica Anderson, Saxe, Millet and Megan Venlos finish fifth in a school-record time of 3:48.01.

Savannah Bettis placed seventh in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.14, Page Hunt finished eighth in three meter diving with a total score of 284.80, and Erica Anderson finished 15th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.33.

After three days of competition, San Jose State leads with 475 points, while Northern Arizona is second with 411. Hawaii is third with 398 points, followed by New Mexico State with 289, Nevada (255), Idaho (244), Fresno State (213) and North Dakota (139).

Action concludes tomorrow at the Palo Alto College Aquatic Center with the 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 3-meter diving and the 400 freestyle relay. Prelims begin at 11:00 a.m., the first two heats of the 1650 free begin at 4:30 p.m. and the finals start at 6:30 p.m.
