NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honored Idaho’s Jeremy Klas and Hannah Kiser as All-Americans on Monday following the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Klas, a senior from Moscow, Idaho (Moscow HS) and Kiser, a sophomore from Wenatchee, Wash. (Wenatchee HS), were both selected as USTFCCCA Second-Team All-Americans. It’s the first such honor for Kiser and the third All-America honor for Klas.

Klas was an All-America honoree in 2010 after his ninth-place finish in the men’s pole vault and was an All-America Honorable Mention pick after competing in the pole vault in 2011 as a junior. With his 11th-place tie after clearing 17-4.5 (5.30m), Klas earned Second-Team honors for the first time.

Kiser took 13th in the women’s 3000m in a time of 9:26.88 on Saturday to earn her first career All-America honor in any sport. She’s Idaho’s first All-American in the women’s 3000m indoors and is the first Vandal woman to earn indoor All-America honors on the track since Dee Olson’s third-place finish in the mile run in 2006. Vandal women have earned four All-America honors in field events since 2007.

Klas and Louisiana Tech sophomore Trey Hadnot (200m, Second Team) were the two Western Athletic Conference men so honored, while Kiser was one of three WAC women on the list. Louisiana Tech’s Chelsea Hayes was a First-Team selection in the long jump and a Second-Team pick in the 60m, while Nevada’s La Tijera Avery was a Second-Team honoree in the long jump.

USTFCCCA First-Team All-America honors are awarded to those who finish in the top eight of their respective events, while Second-Team honors went to those who finished between ninth and 16th. Others who participated and finished outside the top 16 earned Honorable Mention accolades.
