ERIE, Colo. - University of Idaho senior Kayla Mortellaro finished her collegiate career with an even-par 72 during the final round of the NCAA West Regional. She finished in a tie for 16th with a four-over 220 for the tournament - but missed qualifying for the national event by just one stroke.
"Kayla played hard today," coach Lisa Johnson said. "She had a tremendous college career. She was a pleasure to coach. We look forward to watching her as she pursues her golf career."
Mortellaro was a four-time regional qualifying and leaves Idaho as the winningest golfer in school history. She won 10 times and earned an unprecedented 14 Golfer of the Week/Golfer of the Month awards.
Her final round included a double bogey at the 410-yard, par-4 third along with birdies on the 165-yard, par-3 ninth and the 340-yard, par-4 17th.
"The double cost a little bit but she came back with birdie opportunities and finished strong," Johnson said.
