MOSCOW – The Idaho volleyball team rebounded from a tough
loss Friday night with an impressive 3-1 win over Montana on Saturday as the
Idaho Nike Invitational continues.
The Vandals improve to 1-1 on the season with the win, while
Montana falls to 0-2. Idaho will wrap up the tournament Saturday evening
against rival Washington State (1-1) in Memorial Gym at 7 p.m.
The Vandals hit .220 in the match, including a combined .414
in the final two sets to win 28-30, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13.
Ryann Carter had 49 assists for the Vandals, Janelle Chow
had 23 digs and Allison (Walker) Baker had her second-straight double-double
with 24 kills and 13 digs. Baker hit .315 in the match with just seven errors
on 54 attempts. Alyssa Schultz finished with nine kills, six blocks and five
digs for Idaho, and hit .233. Junior transfer Taylor Wilkinson also had nine
kills, and added three digs and three blocks while hitting .467 for the Vandals.
Idaho finished the match with 56 kills and 20 errors on 164
attempts, and had 11 service aces and 11.0 total blocks. Montana hit just .080
for the match and had 9.0 total blocks.
The Vandals and Cougars enter Saturday’s finale having both beat
Montana and lost to Pacific.
