No. 3 UCLA too much for Idaho

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Idaho volleyball team opened the Verizon Volleyball Challenge against UCLA on Friday night, and the No. 3 Bruins were too much for the Vandals, taking a 3-0 victory 25-16, 25-13, 25-13.

The loss is Idaho's fifth in a row, as the Vandals fall to 2-6 on the season, while UCLA improves to 4-1 with the win.

UCLA hit .525 in the match, the highest for an Idaho opponent this season. The Bruins finished with 49 kills and just seven errors on 80 attempts. Idaho, meanwhile, hit .141 in the match with 25 kills and 14 errors on 78 attempts.

Idaho junior Allison (Walker) Baker had her double-double streak end at seven matches, as she finished with 10 kills and four digs, and hit .161. Junior Ashley Christman had five kills on 10 attempts and hit .400 and added a pair of blocks in the match for Idaho. Sophomore Alyssa Schultz had four kills and two blocks, hitting .250 for the Vandals.  Katelyn Peterson, Jessica Hastriter and Alex Sele each added two kills for Idaho.

Jenny Feicht got the start at setter for the second straight match, and finished with 14 assists and two digs.

Things won't get much easier for Idaho as the tournament continues, as the Vandals face No. 9 Hawai'i at 10 p.m. (Pacific) on Saturday.
