|Vandals fall to No. 9 Hawai`i|
HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Idaho volleyball team faced its second top-10 opponent in a row, and got the same result against No. 9 Hawai'i on Saturday night as it did against No. 3 UCLA on Friday, a 3-0 loss.
The Vandals fell 25-11, 25-14, 25-16 to drop to 2-7 overall, while Hawai'i improved to 7-1 on the season. The loss is Idaho's sixth in a row.
Katelyn Peterson finished with five kills and four digs and hit .333 in the match for Idaho. Alyssa Schultz had four kills and no errors on 10 attempts, hitting .400, and Allison (Walker) Baker had 10 kills and six digs, in the match but needed 32 swings and hit .031.
Ryann Carter handled the setting duties for Idaho, and finished with 20 assists. Jenna Ellis led Idaho with 18 digs and Janelle Chow added 16.
Hawai'i hit .489 in the match, finishing with 48 kills and just five errors on 88 attempts. Idaho had just three blocks in the match, while Hawai'i finished with 8.5. Idaho hit .072 as a team in the match with 24 kills and 18 errors on 83 attempts.
The Vandals wrap up the Verizon Volleyball Challenge on Sunday against San Diego State at 6 p.m. (Pacific). Idaho returns home after eight straight road matches to open Western Athletic Conference play against Denver on Sept. 13 and New Mexico State on Sept. 15. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Memorial Gym.
