FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Idaho women’s golf team tied for ninth in its season-opening tournament – the Colonel Wollenberg’s Ram Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club. Sophomore Leilanie Kim led the way with a tie for 16th after rounds of 74-75-75 for an eight-over 224. Next for the Vandals at 14-over 230 was sophomore Kaitlyn Oster, who tied for 45th. Cassie McKinley and Kristin Strankman, in their first tournaments as Vandals, were in a group tied at 52nd after matching 16-over 232s. Rachel Choi, a junior, rounded out the Vandal effort in a tie for 67th at 236. The Vandals combined for a tournament total 913 to tie for ninth with Colorado. Texas Tech won the tournament with a four-under 860 with Baylor second at 23-over 887. Medalist honors went to New Mexico’s Manon DeRoey with a nine-under 207. |
