MOSCOW - The Idaho women's tennis team will get an extra boost this spring, as coach Dan Pollock has signed Belen Barcenilla Coll of Spain.
"She has a game that is really well suited to college tennis and I know she still wants to keep improving," Idaho coach Dan Pollock said. "We can't wait for her to arrive on campus in January in time for the Spring season."
Barcenilla is ranked No. 111 in Spanish Open Women's Singles, and has competed at regional, national and international levels. She was the regional champion of Castille and Leon multiple times, and her team finished third nationally in Spanish league play.
"We're really excited Belen has chosen to become a Vandal," Pollock said. "She will make and immediate impact in both singles and doubles for our team."
Barcenilla Coll will arrive on campus in January as a freshman, in time for Idaho's spring schedule, which begins Jan. 19. She will give Idaho eight players on the roster in the spring.
