MOSCOW -- Three players, including two from the Northwest, have signed National Letters of Intent to play women's basketball at Idaho next season, head coach Jon Newlee announced today.

Brooke Reilly (Spokane, Wash./Mt. Spokane HS), Karlee Wilson (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston HS) and Nejra Solo (Bosnia) have committed to the Vandals.

Reilly is a versatile 6-foot-1 post and was rated by HoopGurlz as the No. 38 forward prospect in the nation, and the No. 6 overall prospect from the state of Washington. As a junior in 2011-12 she averaged 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals per game, and shot 40 percent from the field. She was a second-team All-GSL selection, team captain, team MVP and led the team in points, rebounds steals and blocks. She also played volleyball and was a first-team All-GSL selection and team captain.

"Brooke is long on the perimeter, she can shoot the 3 and she runs the floor well," Newlee said. "She's a tough kid inside and she's able to defend positions 2 through 5. She's really going to bring a toughness and athleticism to our program that we're looking for in that spot. She's got a great all-around game, and she's going to bring everything to us on both offense and defense, she can do it all. The combination of her athleticism and her length is something we're going to need in the future, especially with Alyssa graduating after next year. I definitely think she can be an Alyssa Charlston type of player."

Wilson is a 5-foot-4 point guard who led the Bengals to the Idaho State Championship during her junior campaign in 2011-12. She was a first-team all-state and first-team all-league selection that season after averaging 9.5 points with a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. In two seasons with the Northwest Blazers club team she averaged 14.9 points and 6.0 assists per game, leading the team to an 88-4 record during those two years and championships in eight national tournaments.

"Karlee Wilson will bring high energy to our program," Newlee said. "She makes great decisions at the point guard spot, she can defend, and shoot the 3. She's a winner, they won the state championship last year and has been on the best club team in the Northwest, the Northwest Blazers, where she was a teammates with Brooke Reilly. It's always good to have the local talent stay home. She's the best player in this area and we're thrilled she decided to stay home and play for the Vandals."

Solo, a physical 6-foot-5 post will come to the United State from Zenica, Bosnia. In club basketball she was team captain of BH Start, and averaged 6.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

"She's a solid player inside, she's strong and she can hit the 15-foot shot and in," Newlee said. "She can get up and down the floor. She's just going to give us that big presence inside that we're looking for. At 6-foot-5 she can alter shots and she's hard to guard because she's a big, strong 6-foot-5 and she likes to bang inside."

With the three early signees, Newlee said his team filled every spot it needed going into next season and maintained the high-level of talent they have brought in over the last few years.

"This class as a whole fills every need that we have," Newlee said. "We felt we needed another point guard and we needed to get length in an inside-out type player like Brooke Riley. We needed some big size inside so we wanted to get a big post player. Combined with our current freshman class, these two classes are by far the most talented group that we've brought in during a two-year period. We're thrilled and excited to have them all joining our program. They're great players and they're great students and they're going to bring a whole lot of energy and enthusiasm combined with everybody else here and take us to that next level as we finish our last year in the WAC and get into the Big Sky."
