Idaho junior diver Paige Hunt continues to have an outstanding season with back-to-back spectacular outings at the Phil Hansel Invitational hosted by the University of Houston.
After finishing seventh in the 3-meter event with a 316.90 during Thursday's opening day, she came back to finish third in a high-powered 1-meter field. Her 286.40 was just 1.4 points out of second and within range of meet champion Alex Bettridge of LSU, who won with a 305.20.
"Paige Hunt was, in a word, awesome," coach Mark Sowa said. "We are so impressed with the season she is putting together."
Sowa said the Houston meet is contested using the same format as the Western Athletic Conference meet and gives his team a good idea of what to expect.
"We were much better today," Sowa said. "There were some great individual performances for this time of year.
"I am confident that we will use this momentum going into the last day of the meet and practice how we want to finish in February."
