Rachel Millet puts her undefeated individual race streak on
the line as the University of Idaho Vandals head to Pullman for the Border
Battle with Washington State University in a non-conference swimming meet. Meet
time is 5 p.m. at Gibb Pool.
“It’s just one more great chance to race and see where we
are,” Idaho coach Mark Sowa said. “We value competition. This is a very
competitive team. They get excited for that opportunity.”
Millet is undefeated in individual races this season, while
the Vandals also have had strong performances throughout the season from senior
Kelsie Saxe and Jamie Sterbis, a freshman butterfly specialist.
The telling factor, however, Sowa said, likely will be the
relays and the points the Vandals pick up via depth.
“The relays are going to be big. We need to win one of them,”
Sowa said. “We’d love to win two of them but we need one of them. That’s part
of my job – figuring out who to put on what relay. I think the relays are going
to be key.”
