Palo Alto, Calif- The Idaho track and field team captured three top-10 marks on the track during Friday’s opening action at the Stanford Invitational.

Senior Barry Britt had a career-best time of 14:03.48 in the 5000m on Friday moving him to second in the Idaho all-time record book. His time ranks first-best in the WAC so far this season by a margin of 46 seconds. The time also ranks 32nd best in the NCAA so far this season.

“Barry had a great race,” Idaho director of track and field Wayne Phipps. “His performance was fantastic and I am sure he is going to have a great season.”

On the field, sophomore Matt Sullivan had a career-best vault of 16-10.75 (5.15m). His vault moves him into fourth all-time in Idaho history and ranks second best in the WAC so far this season. Senior Jeremy Klass also competed in the pole vault at Fridays meet and posted a 16-10.75 (5.15m) as well.

“I couldn’t have asked for any better of performances,” Phipps said. “These three all performed very well, and could all most likely be NCAA finalists.”

The Vandals are back in action next weekend as they split forces between the Sun Angel Classic and the Sam Adams Invite.
